The Bridge on the River
Kwai in Kanchanaburi Province. Made famous by the 1957 movie of the same
name, the bridge, which was built by the Japanese with labor supplied by
Allied POWs, was intended to serve as a vital rail link between Thailand
and Burma. Much of the original bridge was destroyed towards the end of
WWII. |
